Turtle Rose
Known as Turtle, a nickname that stuck during more than 20 years working in the high-tech industry, Michael's creative path has always quietly run alongside his professional life. The name Turtle Rose Music comes from that nickname and from his wife, Rose, whose presence has been central to every chapter of the journey.
Growing up in the Toronto area, Turtle took a leap in 2003 to pursue his passion for music, moving to Nashville with an artist he managed at the time, Jon Raven. That experience offered a firsthand look into the music industry and left a lasting imprint, even as music remained in the background for years to come.
Fast forward two decades, Turtle and Rose retired early and spent eight years exploring Mexico, living in three different places including the island of Isla Mujeres. While in Playa del Carmen, Turtle picked up a guitar, taught himself a few chords, and began writing lyrics to melodies inspired by life experiences, people met, and places explored along the way.
After returning to Toronto, Turtle has written over 30 songs in just over two years, now sharing demos and lyrics through his website and social media. What began as a retirement hobby fueled by a lifelong love of music has grown into a sincere hope that the right ears may one day hear a song worth recording. Until then, Turtle continues to write—guided by inspiration, curiosity, and the stories life brings.
